The Softer SexThis shoot was done in April 2012 which so long ago that I can’t remember exactly how or where it was used. Passionfruit.co.za sponsored lingerie for this lingerie shoot with Jade in my studio and it was used by both Playboy and Passionfruit.co.za when Jades Playmate of The Year campaign came out later that year.
(Note: “The Housewives” was a term I fondly coined in 2006 after I started getting shoot requests from private, individual women who became my clients. Many of the women who contacted me were married and in their mid 30’s and were doing the shoots as gifts to their husbands. The folder in my archives is still called this and so I’ve stuck to it, in part just for the irony: most of these women are not “housewives” at all, but strong independent and forward thinking women who I have had the honour of documenting.
All are private commissions and the demographic has changed substantially over the years. Some I’m still in contact with, others I’ve totally lost contact with, some have become friends, some may wish not to have their real names used, others don’t mind, some may have their faces obscured for privacy reasons, others have generously shared their experiences of being photographed.)
I met and photographed athlete Helene in 2017 in my studio in Woodstock. This is a selection of images from the shoot we worked on together. Its always quite interesting to work with athletes focused on bodybuilding as they have a very different sense about their bodies: a surety and confidence in themselves with is very often not present at other similar shoots.
This accessory story was shot with Lize-Marie in 2011 in studio using simple garments and bold accessories.
Latex and Lace was shot in my studio in Woodstock in late 2011. The look for the shoot was all dark and broody and using segments of backdrop roll purposefully tapped, in contrast, to the back wall of the studio.
