The Softer Sex
I worked with Leonie and her family for the first time this July in their home town of Utrecht in Holland. The shoot was all natural light, soft and natural. After the shoot Leonie also stood for me for her breastfeeding portrait which became one of the images published in Breastfeeding 101, the book I published in August 2019.
It was a cool and windy afternoon when I met Shelley and Richard up the West Coast, near Yzerfontein, for their maternity shoot.
By the time we got to the beach the sea had gone frothy and totally wild. Shelley was amazing,- with so little clothing on in the freezing conditions she carried on to help me pull of this beautiful series of natural light maternity portraits of her and her husband.
A selection of Shelley’s favourites now hang in little Kingston’s nursery bedroom.
Emily and I short a natural light studio series a little while back. Her doggie chose to join in the session. The images came out beautifully soft with the afternoon light coming in from the back of the studio through our curtains.
I did this newborn shoot with Lily, Jasper & Family a short while after Jasper came out of hospital. After an emergency c-section Jasper underwent emergency open heart surgery and spent weeks and weeks in NICU before he could finally come home with all his little scars healing.
This was to be the first of many shoots capturing little Jasper as he grows up.
