The Softer Sex
I met Nadine a few years ago when we worked together on this maternity shoot which was done in her children’s bedrooms, at home in Cape Town. Since then Ive worked with her and her family on multiple shoots documenting them both in Cape Town and in Hamburg as their family grows and changes.
It was a cool and windy afternoon when I met Shelley and Richard up the West Coast, near Yzerfontein, for their maternity shoot.
By the time we got to the beach the sea had gone frothy and totally wild. Shelley was amazing,- with so little clothing on in the freezing conditions she carried on to help me pull of this beautiful series of natural light maternity portraits of her and her husband.
A selection of Shelley’s favourites now hang in little Kingston’s nursery bedroom.
I documented these portraits of Nadine and her family at Noordehoek Beach near Cape Town about a year or so ago. It was the second time I worked with the family and have since gone on to document them in their home town of Hamburg as well as back in Cape Town, each time as their family grows and changes.
Emily and I short a natural light studio series a little while back. Her doggie chose to join in the session. The images came out beautifully soft with the afternoon light coming in from the back of the studio through our curtains.
